NEVER LIE
By Frieda McFadden
Book Rating: 5 out of 5 boozy stars
Wow!
There isn't too much that I can say about Never Lie without giving anything away. What I can say is, "Holy shit this book was good." Never Lie is definitely the BEST book I have read from McFadden thus far, which means a lot considering that I have read 11 of her novels.
You might be thinking, "What is it that makes Never Lie stand out above the others?" The answer is simple. THE PLOT TWIST! After reading so many of McFadden's novels, I was starting to guess the plot twists, but with Never Lie, I never even saw the plot twist coming. While reading, I garuantee you will think that you know what's going to happen next, but I am willing to bet my life savings that you will not even come close.
This novel features a host of interesting characters. The novel jumps back and forth between a newlywed couple, Tricia and Ethan, who are looking for their dream home, and a therapist, Dr. Adrienne Hale, who vanished without a trace four years earlier. The couple is scheduled to visit Dr. Hale's home, that is now up for sale, but when they arrive they get trapped in a blizzard and forced to stay. While snowed in, Tricia happens upon a secret room filled with tapes from all of Dr. Hale's sessions. As she listens to each tape, the secret of what happened to Dr. Hale slowly unravels...

One of the key elements in this novel is that Tricia and Ethan get stuck at the home of renowned psychiatrist, Dr. Adrienne Hale, who inexplicably went missing years before. Without the blizzard that snows them into the home, where all of the wild events and the secrets hidden within the walls of the house unravel, there would be no story. I did not want to go with a basic blizzard themed cocktail, therefore I searched and found this--hilariously titled--cocktail that also fit the theme of the novel. In more ways than one...*wink wink*
Needless to say, this drink featuring sweet Malibu Rum and coconut cream is so yummy and also very affordable with only 2 ingredients. Those who do not like coconut, beware. As someone who enjoys cocnut flavor, I added a sugar rim with a few coconut shavings to embellish.
